Twitter Me This

Date March 23, 2007

To quote Yul Brenner “is a puzzlement”.   That’s how I feel about the recent twitter phenomenon. I suppose I understand the concepts, portable presence, letting family and friends know what you’re up to, yada yada yada.  For me, RIGHT NOW, I prefer the old-fashioned IMing, text-messaging, or even the ancient calling on cell-phone methods of communicating.

The truth is, I did give in and get a twitter account “keeeeez”. I do get it - basically a mashup of SMS, instant messaging, and IM status indicators.  It would be much more compelling if twitter incorporated video, audio, and imaging instead of just text. The more friends you have in the twitter network, the more noise that you’ll have to deal with. It’ll be interesting to see where this twitter thing ends up in the realm of social media.
