About

Although I contribute online as keeeeez, in real life people know me as Rick Garcia. I work as an Information Technology Manager for a non-profit organization in La Jolla, California, where I have been placed in charge of building a online community site, a recent SEM strategy initiative including page optimization and PPC campaign, and other technology related initiatives.

I’ve recently founded a new organization called rPiece. Although the company is slowly developing, I can tell you the basic premise - it’s the next MySpace, YouTube, Google, and Microsoft Windows OS, all rolled up into one and ready to take over the world.  On a serious note, we believe that rPiece can fill the needs of a niche group of social network users and are looking forward to our Beta launch.  (Why are so many net ventures launched in Beta form?  It’s kinda scary to think of mass-testing in Beta, because to me, Beta means not-finished).  I think I’ll name myself, “Rick Garcia Beta” because I’m never finished.

My introduction to Social Media dates back to 1994 where I was heavy into online-gaming communities. It was there where I first spread the word of free music via MP3s and ftp servers. An online friend that I had original told about MP3s and everthing about them, then told me of Napster. I, being one to share such wonderful information, informed the world! Thankfully, Apple rescued me from an uncertain number of years in prison by inventing the I-pod and I-tunes.

Since then, I’ve been a contributing member to countless Internet Forums and Social Networking Sites. My personal attributes can be found on www.myspace.com/keeeeez. or the homepage for this blog - www.keeeeez.com.

I chose the username “keeeeez” because my name “Rick Garcia” is so common. Yes, I know there are many variations for the name “Rick Garcia” (rickgarcia, rick_garcia, rickgarcia001, rickgarcia1970, garciarick2020, etc.) After doing this for about a year, I realized that it was quite impossible to keep track of that many variations of Rick Garcia. I settled on the username:keeeeez for several reasons.

  • It was the first variation of “keys” that was available on a piano forum that was available.
  • My friends in AIM know me by keeeeez
  • The statistic probability of someone else chosing that username for another site is extremely low

I received as BS in Business Administration, Information Decision Systems form San Diego State University and an MBA, e-Business from National University.
